Incorporated in 1979, Mohawk Kitchens Inc. has been serving the Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Greenwich, Norwalk, and Westport, CT areas for more than 40 years. Originally as a part of Mohawk Service, we started by selling tires and appliances, but have seen many changes since those early years. Today, Mohawk provides the highest quality custom, semi-custom, and stock cabinetry for your home. We have the passion and expertise to design any area of the home or office, and even offer a full countertop fabrication shop onsite for all of your Corian® and laminate needs.

Our Team
Since the days of selling only tires and appliances, we have grown and evolved, but our legacy remains the same. We have a dedicated and experienced staff that focuses on crafting personal relationships with clients. Our goal is to use the lessons we have learned during the past four decades of growth to provide the highest quality product, design and installation services to every single job we do. Neal Laughlin, Owner, Designer, Heart & Soul
Neal learned the business from the ground up by working with his father. Beyond his duties as owner, he still finds time to help clients design their dream kitchens and follows their projects from beginning to end. From receiving deliveries in the warehouse to loading trucks with beautiful kitchens, no job is too big or small, and he firmly believes in his motto that “there are no problems at Mohawk, only solutions.” This has earned Neal the highest regard from employees and peers. In his spare time, Neal enjoys competitive slalom water-skiing, bare-footing, bicycling, and spending time with his family, and friends. He also participates and contributes to charity bike rides.
Valerie Marshall, Designer
Valerie joined the Mohawk Kitchens team in February of 2008, bringing years of experience and an impressive resume. She was part of the 2007 team that received the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) award for the best kitchen remodel under $50,000. A graduate of Western Connecticut State University, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and traveling. She had also been very active in Bethel Jaycees.
Maury Velenchik, Designer
With a background in computerized kitchen design, cabinet fabrication and installation, Maury has been an expert addition to the team. He joined Mohawk in 2007, and his knowledge and experience in wholesale plumbing and heating supplies, HVAC design, commercial store design, precast concrete and structural steel has been put to good use. He also helps with the development of shop fabrication and field drawings. Outside of work, Maury enjoys cooking, gardening, working with his hands, boating, motor sports and spending time with his family.
Bob Fowler, Service Manager
Bob began his career with Mohawk Kitchens as a sub-contractor in 1991. In 1999, he officially joined the team as a full-time employee, assuming the duties of the service department. Affectionately known as the “hingemeister,” Bob is integral to many aspects of the business, including drawings, coordinating installations and customer service. Bob loves spending his free time with his wife, children and numerous grandchildren. He also enjoys traveling and camping.
Tommy Conforti, Vice President and Fabrication Manager
Tommy started his career with Mohawk Kitchens in July of 1982, as a countertop fabricator. Today, he runs the countertop shop, and is a Dupont® certified Corian® fabricator and installer. In addition to these responsibilities, Tommy also alters and customizes cabinetry in our shop. As he puts it, “carpentry is my passion.” He might be a busy man, but he always has a smile and a good word for everyone. Outside of work, Tommy is quite the athlete. He runs, is a softball pitcher and coach, and participates in charity bike rides. Above all else, he enjoys spending time with his family.
Joan Racho, Concierge
The first person you meet when you enter our showroom, Joan has been an essential part of the Mohawk Kitchens team since November, 2000. With 17 years of previous retail experience, she manages the showroom floor and makes sure samples, brochures and displays are available for viewing. No one gets more excited than Joan when a new product is introduced, and she truly lives up to her motto, “share your enthusiasm!” Beyond the showroom, she also handles Mohawk’s marketing and advertising. Outside of work, Joan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the gym and the beach, reading, cooking and an occasional trip to the West Coast.

"When we decided to remodel, our challenges were finding a company that would be easy to work with us and our contractor. We also wanted to work with a local company.
Once we began looking for cabinets, we knew we did not want white cabinets and we were concerned about our color choices. We needed to be educated on cabinets, and stay within our budget.

"We have a tiny condo kitchen, and we could not make any structural changes to it. We knew Mohawk Kitchens, liked their cabinets, and had used them before for 4 previous projects. We enjoyed working with our designer and the way she listened to our needs and the design she came up with. We were pleased that Mohawk could get toe kick drawers under our cabinets to create extra storage and a narrow all kitchen cabinet next to our fridge. Not an inch was wasted!
Mohawk Kitchens met our expectations for our new kitchen with their listening, design, quality, and follow thru. There was nothing they could have done to make this experience better. "We bought a new home and our kitchen was outdated and had a challenging design. In addition, we needed new vanities for three bathrooms. We wanted quality construction at a reasonable price point with customizable features.
We chose Mohawk Kitchens as we had worked with them three times before on a previous residence and had been very happy with the service and the products.
My designer at Mohawk Kitchens listened carefully to us and respected our budget. He came up with a design that met our wants and needs and was within our budget. We were shown plans every meeting and had the ability to tweak, and then see the revised plans.
We would advise anyone anticipating a new kitchen project to spend time on the layout, visualize, and see if it works for you. Sometimes there can be minor delays, however having done three previous projects with Mohawk Kitchens, we can say you are in good hands.
One last thought: their customer service is great. Your cabinets have a lifetime guarantee and they mean it. Any time I had a loose or broken hinge, Bob would be there the next day to fix it - even on cabinets that were 15-20 years old.”

I had a small and very dysfunctional kitchen which I had intended to revamp it in stages because of budget concerns, but after meeting with Neal (the owner) I realized that he would work with me to allay those concerns and yet he was not pushy at all. Whatever I felt comfortable with was fine with him. I became so excited about having a workable kitchen that I did it all and loved it. The team is wonderful-very professional, responsive and creative. Neal was brilliant with solutions that had never occurred to me. If I had a question, a call or an email, it was answered almost immediately and if I couldn’t visualize something, Neal would come to my house to show me. Amazing, but true, the whole job was completed before its due date and under budget. I have pets which also had concerned me, but the workmen were wonderful about making sure they were safe and didn’t escape. The carpentry was immaculate and the attention to detail was amazing. Although, I am not much of a cook, my kitchen is my favorite room in the house- it is beautiful and so functional.
